APR 21/22 - TUE - DEPART LOS ANGELES.  Flight to Yangon.  Cross the Dateline, lose a day - late arrival on the 22nd.  STRAND HOTEL

After breakfast, catch a flight to Heho, and visit the bustling main market.  Then to Inle Lake where we explore the lake populated with floating islands & gardens of tangled, water hyacinth plants & reeds.  Watch the local fishermen row with one leg, while balancing on the other.  Welcome Dinner tonight.   AUREUM INLE RESORT & SPA [BLD]

APR 24 - YANGON.  Today to Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, home of some of the most sacred, gold-leaf, Buddha statues.  Then, visit a Burmese Cat home & learn about the preservation efforts of this rare breed.  Observe the Inpawkhon Weaving Village’s local silks, linens and lotus fabrics, and see how Burmese cigars “cheroots” are packed & rolled at the Nampan Village.  [BLD]

APR 25/26 - INN THEIN/HEHO/MANDALAY.  On the 25th
- by boat to the Inn Thein Pagoda Complex.  Travel back in time, as we walk through bamboo groves and come to a field covered with ancient pagodas, built over 1,000 years ago.  We visit Red Mountain Estate and tour the lush vineyards and taste some of Myanmar’s premier wines.  On the 26th - visit the Mahagandayon monastery in Amarapura where over 1,000 monks live & study, and the Bagaya Monastery with its collections of Buddha statues.  Later, we cruise to Mingun to see its giant bronze bell & a massive, unfinished pagoda, badly cracked by an earthquake.  Enjoy the sunset and panoramic view of Mandalay City before a cultural puppet show with buffet dinner.  MANDALAY HILL RESORT [2B2L2D]

APR 27/28 - MANDALAY/BAGAN.  On the 27th
- fly to Bagan, and visit the Nyaung U Market, to have a glimpse of local life.  A “Temple Tour” to the Swezigon Stupa, which legends say, contains Buddha’s tooth as its holy relic.  Travel on to Kyansitha Umin & Gubyaukgyi cave temples, and Htilominlo Temple to learn about Burmese sand paintings. Ananda Temple with its 4 standing Buddha images that seems to gaze at you with serenity wherever you stand, and then to Dhamayangyi & Sulamani Temples.  Lastly, to the Shwesandaw Pagoda to watch the sunset over the famous Ayeyarwaddy River.  On the 28th - we visit the Myingaba Village famous for Bagan’s lacquer ware, then to the Gubyaukgyi Temple where the best-preserved mural paintings of the Buddha’s Jataka reincarnations are found.  To the agricultural village of Minnanthu, Temples of  Manuha, Nanda-man-nya, Tayok Pye Paya & panoramic views from Dhamayazeka Zedi.  A sunset, horse-cart ride for photo ops of the archeological temple ruins.  Tonight, enjoy a traditional Myanmar dinner & dancing show.  AUREUM PALACE RESORT [2B2L2D]

Return flight to Yangon and visit Sule Paya stupa, built over 2,000 years ago.  See the reclining Buddha at Chauk That Gyi Pagoda; the “hamsa-bird-shaped” floating barge at Karaweik Hall; & the spectacular, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred stupa, containing holy relics from four past Buddhas.  Midnight flight homeward, arriving on the 30th.  [BLD]
